    1-Methylxanthine Analysis Service

      1-Methylxanthine is a methylated derivative of xanthine, a purine base found in most human tissues and other organisms. Its structure consists of a xanthine core with a methyl group attached to the nitrogen at the 1-position of the imidazole ring. This class of compounds is known for its stimulatory effects on the central nervous system and its ability to act as adenosine receptor antagonists. 1-Methylxanthine is a metabolic product in the caffeine metabolism process, formed by the enzyme cytochrome P450 1A2 (CYP1A2). 

       

      1-Methylxanthine is commonly used in research to study the metabolism of methylxanthines, particularly in the context of caffeine metabolic pathways and enzyme activity. Although 1-methylxanthine itself is not widely used therapeutically, understanding its metabolism and effects can help form the basis for developing treatment strategies for conditions such as asthma, COPD, and metabolic disorders. It is frequently measured in clinical studies to assess an individual's caffeine metabolism rate, which is relevant in pharmacogenetic research.
