Metabolomics in Drug Development
- Biological samples such as blood, urine, tissue, etc.
- Provide a sufficient number of samples according to the needs of the experimental design.
- Freeze samples at -80℃ and send them by dry ice express.
Drug development is a complex and time-consuming process, involving the discovery and optimization of new drug molecules, pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics studies, and preclinical and clinical trials. In this process, metabolomics, a research method focusing on small molecule metabolites, plays an important role in understanding the metabolic pathway of drugs, evaluating the toxicity and efficacy of drugs, and optimizing the pharmacokinetic properties of drugs.

Services at MtoZ Biolabs
In metabolomics research in drug development, MtoZ Biolabs uses high-resolution mass spectrometry for unbiased metabolome profiling, and then use specialized data processing and statistical analysis software for metabolite annotation and quantification, as well as differential metabolite screening. In addition, we can also use metabolic pathway analysis to understand the metabolic pathways and mechanisms of drug action.
Analysis Workflow
Our technical procedure includes sample pretreatment, mass spectrometry analysis, data processing and statistical analysis, metabolite annotation and quantification, differential metabolite screening, and metabolic pathway analysis.
1. Sample Pretreatment
Appropriate sample pretreatment methods are selected according to the type and characteristics of the sample.
2. Mass Spectrometry Analysis
Unbiased metabolome profiling is performed using a high-resolution mass spectrometer.
3. Data Processing and Statistical Analysis
Mass spectrometry data is preprocessed and statistically analyzed using specialized software.
4. Metabolite Annotation and Quantification
Metabolites are annotated and quantified based on mass spectrometry data.
5. Differential Metabolite Screening
Differential metabolites are screened by comparing the metabolite quantification results of the drug treatment group and the control group.
6. Metabolic pathway analysis
Metabolic pathway analysis is performed based on differential metabolites to understand the metabolic pathways and mechanisms of drug action.
