    Bile acids

Bile acids are the end products of cholesterol metabolism, synthesized primarily by the liver, and play crucial roles in the intestine. They are essential for lipid digestion and absorption, participate in the enterohepatic circulation, and regulate physiological processes such as energy metabolism, glucose and lipid metabolism, and inflammation. Abnormal bile acid metabolism is closely associated with various diseases, including liver diseases, gallbladder diseases, and metabolic syndrome. Accurate analysis of bile acids and their metabolites is essential for understanding their roles in health and disease.
