Arachidate, also known as arachidic acid, is a saturated long-chain fatty acid commonly found in peanut oil, corn oil, and various animal fats. Arachidate plays a significant role in lipid metabolism and is an important component of cell membrane phospholipids, influencing membrane fluidity and integrity. Elevated levels of arachidate have been linked to certain metabolic disorders, including obesity and cardiovascular diseases. Additionally, arachidate serves as a precursor for the biosynthesis of eicosanoids, which are signaling molecules involved in inflammatory responses and other critical biological functions. By analyzing arachidate levels in biological samples, researchers can gain insights into lipid metabolism, dietary influences, and potential biomarkers for disease states.

At MtoZ Biolabs, we utilize a robust platform based on Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS) for arachidate analysis. LC-MS is a highly sensitive and selective analytical technique that separates compounds based on their physical and chemical properties (LC part), and then identifies and quantifies them based on their mass-to-charge ratio (MS part). It enables accurate identification and quantification of arachidate, even in complex biological samples.
