IAM (3-Indoleacetamide) is a compound composed of an indole structure and an acetamide group, with a chemical formula of C₁₀H₁₀N₂O. It consists of an indole ring and an acetamide side chain. This compound is an intermediate in the biosynthesis of indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) and primarily originates from the tryptophan metabolic pathway in plants. IAM exhibits certain plant hormone activity, capable of regulating plant growth and development. Its metabolites include important plant hormones such as IAA, which promotes cell division, elongation, and root growth in plants, playing a crucial role in regulating various physiological processes. Analyzing the content of IAM and its metabolites in plant and biological samples is essential for studying plant growth regulation, hormone metabolic pathways, and their response mechanisms under different environmental conditions. Such analysis can reveal the plant hormone regulatory networks and provide scientific insights for agricultural production and crop improvement, helping to optimize growth conditions and increase yields.
