It features a petunidin core linked to a glucoside at the 3-position, which is further esterified with a malonyl group at the 6-position. This compound is primarily found in dark-colored fruits and flowers, such as grapes, blueberries, and certain ornamental flowers, imparting vivid red, blue, or purple hues to these plants.
