    Protein Asymmetric Dimethylation Analysis

Protein asymmetric dimethylation is a critical post-translational modification (PTM) that plays a significant role in regulating cellular processes such as signal transduction, gene expression, chromatin remodeling, and protein-protein interactions. This modification predominantly occurs on arginine residues and is catalyzed by protein arginine methyltransferases (PRMTs), which transfer two methyl groups to one nitrogen atom of the arginine, resulting in the formation of asymmetric dimethylarginine. Aberrant asymmetric dimethylation has been linked to various diseases, including cancer, autoimmune disorders, and neurological conditions, making precise analysis and quantification of this modification essential in life sciences research.
