    Protein Glutarylation Analysis

Protein glutarylation is a significant form of lysine acylation and represents a novel category of post-translational modifications (PTMs). This modification occurs when a glutaryl group is covalently attached to lysine residues on proteins via the enzyme glutaryl transferase, resulting in a five-carbon chain structure. Glutarylation is pivotal in regulating key biological processes, including gene expression, cellular metabolism, chromatin remodeling, protein interactions, and cell signaling pathways. Emerging research highlights the strong connection between protein glutarylation and the pathogenesis of several diseases, such as cancer, metabolic disorders, and neurodegenerative diseases. Therefore, quantitative and functional studies on protein glutarylation are crucial for unraveling the mechanisms behind these pathological processes.
