    1-Aminocyclopropanecarboxylic Acid Analysis Service

1-Aminocyclopropanecarboxylic Acid (ACC) is a crucial precursor in the ethylene biosynthesis pathway in plants. Ethylene, a key plant hormone, regulates a variety of growth and developmental processes including fruit ripening, flower senescence, and stress responses. ACC is synthesized from S-adenosyl-L-methionine (SAM) by ACC synthase  and subsequently converted into ethylene by ACC oxidase.

Beyond its role in ethylene production, ACC also exhibits ethylene-independent signaling functions. It plays a significant role in pollination and seed production by activating protein pathways similar to those found in human and animal nervous systems. ACC can be utilized by soil microorganisms, such as bacteria and fungi, as a nitrogen and carbon source. This interaction with soil microbes has been shown to induce the abundance of ACC deaminase genes, potentially benefiting plant growth and stress resistance. In mammals, ACC acts as an exogenous partial agonist of NMDA receptors, further underscoring its biological significance.
