2,-O-methyladenosine is a methylated derivative of the nucleoside adenosine, which is part of the nucleic acids DNA and RNA. It is found in rRNA, tRNA, and mRNA of all living organisms across the biological kingdoms - from bacteria to humans. The methylation is performed by specific enzymes called methyltransferases.
