3,4-Dihydroxybenzoic acid (3,4-DHBA), also known as protocatechuic acid, is an important aromatic hydroxy acid classified as a phenolic acid, with the chemical formula C₇H₆O₄. It consists of a benzene ring, two hydroxyl groups (positioned at the 3rd and 4th positions of the benzene ring), and a carboxylic acid group.
