    4-Methoxyestrone Analysis Service

4-Methoxyestrone (chemical formula C19H24O3) is a steroidal estrogen derivative and a metabolite of estrone. Its basic structure consists of a steroid backbone composed of four carbon rings (A, B, C, D), similar to other estrogens. Compared to other estrogens, 4-methoxyestrone has weaker biological activity. While it retains some estrogenic activity, its effect is significantly lower than that of estrone and estradiol. This reduced estrogenic activity classifies it as an anti-estrogenic metabolite, potentially reducing the levels of active estrogens in the body and thereby lowering the risk of estrogen-related diseases. In particular, 4-methoxyestrone has shown inhibitory effects on estrogen-dependent tumors, such as breast cancer, in certain studies. By lowering the levels of active estrogens in the body, 4-methoxyestrone can exert protective effects. 4-Methoxyestrone is primarily metabolized in the liver, where it is further broken down into water-soluble compounds and excreted via urine or bile. Research suggests that 4-methoxyestrone and its metabolites may have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, potentially reducing oxidative stress, especially in pathological conditions associated with excessive estrogen activity.

In biomedical and environmental sciences, detecting 4-methoxyestrone and its metabolites is of great importance. In humans, the level of 4-methoxyestrone can reflect an individual's estrogen metabolism status, particularly in relation to estrogen-associated diseases such as breast cancer and endometrial cancer. By analyzing changes in 4-methoxyestrone and its metabolites, researchers can better understand an individual's metabolic response to estrogen, especially during menopause and postmenopause, when estrogen fluctuations can significantly impact health. The application of highly sensitive techniques such as mass spectrometry allows for precise quantification of 4-methoxyestrone and its metabolites. This is crucial for exploring the mechanisms of estrogen metabolism disorders, developing new therapeutic approaches, and monitoring the impact of hormone pollutants in the environment.
