    7α,27-Dihydroxycholesterol Analysis Service

7α,27-Dihydroxycholesterol (7α,27-OHC) is a dihydroxylated derivative of cholesterol, characterized by the presence of two hydroxyl (–OH) groups at the 7th and 27th carbon positions of the cholesterol molecule. In biological systems, 7α,27-OHC acts as an important signaling molecule, particularly exhibiting significant biological activity in the immune system. It is also considered a ligand for several nuclear receptors and is involved in regulating physiological processes such as cholesterol metabolism and inflammatory responses.

By binding to its target receptors, 7α,27-OHC can influence the migration, function, and distribution of immune cells, thereby playing a key role in modulating immune responses. Due to its critical role in regulating immune cell function, 7α,27-OHC is considered a potential target for drug development. Quantitative analysis of 7α,27-OHC can help assess its level changes under different pathological conditions, assisting in validating drug targets associated with it and providing a basis for designing new immunomodulatory drugs. The production of 7α,27-OHC involves multiple enzymatic steps, particularly catalyzed by cholesterol 7α-hydroxylase (CYP7A1) and 27-hydroxylase (CYP27A1). Quantitative analysis of 7α,27-OHC and its metabolites can help reveal the activity of these metabolic pathways in different tissues, explore their changes under physiological and pathological conditions, and provide important insights for studying the mechanisms underlying metabolism-related diseases.
