β-Indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) is a natural plant growth hormone with an aromatic ring structure and is the most predominant form of auxin in plants. Its structure contains an indole ring and an acetic acid group, giving it high polarity and biological activity. β-Indole-3-acetic acid exhibits strong growth-regulating activity in plants and is more potent than other types of auxins. It can bind to auxin receptors in plant cells, thereby regulating various growth and development processes, such as cell division, elongation, and differentiation. Its high biological activity plays a crucial role in controlling the development of plant organs, including roots, stems, leaves, flowers, and fruits.
Due to its significant growth-promoting effects, β-indole-3-acetic acid may stimulate cell proliferation and growth in certain plant tissues, such as root tips, shoot tips, and young leaves. Monitoring the levels of β-indole-3-acetic acid in plants can serve as an important biomarker for assessing plant growth status and health. Measuring its concentration in plant tissues or cells helps to understand plant growth and development and the effects of external environmental factors. Studying the biosynthesis pathways and regulatory mechanisms of β-indole-3-acetic acid can provide insights into the metabolic processes of plant hormones and their changes under normal and stress conditions, offering new strategies for crop improvement and agricultural production.
