    Fatty acids

Fatty acids, consisting of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen, are essential components of cell membranes that help maintain structural integrity and regulate metabolic processes. They are classified into three main types—saturated, monounsaturated, and polyunsaturated—based on the degree of saturation in their carbon chains. Additionally, they can be grouped by chain length into short-chain (1-6 carbons), medium-chain (6-12 carbons), and long-chain fatty acids (12-26 carbons).

Beyond serving as critical dietary sources and major energy contributors, fatty acids function as signaling molecules with significant roles in various physiological processes and disease mechanisms, such as cancer, diabetes, and cardiovascular disorders. In plant biology, fatty acids are crucial for seed oil content, growth regulation, and interactions with microorganisms. Their diverse roles across multiple biological systems make their accurate identification and quantification fundamental to research in fields like nutritional science, disease pathology, the food industry, and pharmaceutical development.

MtoZ Biolabs' fatty acid analysis service utilizes advanced chromatographic and mass spectrometric techniques, offering high sensitivity and specificity to deliver reliable and precise fatty acid profiling. Our service is designed to meet the rigorous demands of both academic and industrial clients, ensuring robust data to drive innovative research and product development.

      Services at MtoZ Biolabs

As a pioneer in the field of analytical science, MtoZ Biolabs offers comprehensive fatty acid analysis services to support a wide range of needs from basic scientific research to commercial product development. Our laboratory is equipped with the most advanced analytical instruments, including HPLC, LC-MS systems, and GC-MS systems, capable of efficiently separating, detecting, and quantifying various fatty acids.

GC-MS is the ideal choice for analyzing volatile short-chain and medium-chain fatty acids, while LC-MS is suitable for identifying long-chain and non-volatile fatty acids. Additionally, we use LC-MS/MS techniques to analyze specific modifications of fatty acids, such as oxidation or cyclization, which are crucial for a deeper understanding of the functions and mechanisms of fatty acids in organisms.
