    Ferroptosis Metabolism Analysis Service

      Ferroptosis is an iron-dependent programmed cell death pathway, distinct from traditional forms like apoptosis, necrosis, or autophagy. This process is driven by the catalytic role of iron, leading to lethal accumulations of lipid peroxides. Specifically, inhibitors such as Erastin decrease cellular glutathione levels, inactivate GPX4, and intensify lipid peroxidation, culminating in cell death. Direct GPX4 inhibition, such as with RSL3, also induces ferroptosis. This pathway intersects with numerous cellular metabolic processes, including iron, polyunsaturated fatty acids, amino acids, and the synthesis of glutathione, phospholipids, NADPH, and coenzyme Q10. Ferroptosis is linked to a range of conditions including neurodegenerative diseases, cancer, and brain injuries.
