γ-Glu-Phe is a dipeptide composed of γ-glutamic acid and phenylalanine connected via an amide bond (-CONH-). γ-Glutamic acid is a variant of glutamic acid where the amino acid side chain forms a cyclic structure, which is connected to the amino group of phenylalanine. As an important amino acid, glutamic acid plays a key role in neurotransmission and amino acid metabolism. γ-Glu-Phe and its metabolites may serve as biomarkers for certain diseases or physiological states. For example, changes in its levels may be associated with neurological disorders, metabolic abnormalities, or other physiological changes. γ-Glu-Phe and its derivatives could be used as candidate compounds in drug development, particularly for the treatment of neurological disorders or metabolic disorders. Understanding its pharmacological properties can help optimize its application as a therapeutic agent.
