Iridoids are a class of bioactive compounds widely found in the plant kingdom. Through biotransformation, iridoid compounds mainly exist as prototypes, aglycones, and as phase I and phase II metabolites. These metabolites have been proven to possess neuroprotective, hepatoprotective, anti-inflammatory, antitumor, hypoglycemic, and hypolipidemic activities. Due to the broad pharmacological effects of these metabolites, qualitative and quantitative analysis of these metabolites aids in their fundamental research, further elucidating their pharmacological mechanisms.
