Jasmonates (JAs) are a series of crucial plant hormones primarily involved in mediating plant defense responses. Derived from fatty acids, JA compounds include JA, jasmonoyl-isoleucine conjugate (JA-ILE), methyl jasmonate (MEJA), dihydrojasmonic acid (H2JA), and 12-oxo-phytodienoic acid (12-OPDA). For a deeper understanding of JA signaling and metabolic pathways, precise detection and quantitative analysis of JA and its conjugates are particularly important. Traditionally, GC-MS has been used for analyzing JAs. However, this method poses challenges due to the separation of high boiling point compounds and potential thermal decomposition of molecules during long chromatographic separations at high temperatures, complicating the quantification of small amounts of JAs. In contrast, LC-MS/MS is now widely used for the determination of small metabolites like JA and its derivatives due to its rapidity and accuracy.
