    Lactic Acid Analysis Service

Lactic acid is a vital organic acid found widely in nature and within living organisms, playing a crucial role in metabolism. In the body, lactic acid is produced via the glycolysis pathway under anaerobic conditions, a primary method for generating energy when oxygen is scarce. When oxygen is sufficient, lactic acid is converted to pyruvate by lactate dehydrogenase and enters the tricarboxylic acid cycle (TCA cycle) for complete oxidation, producing more energy. Additionally, in the liver, lactic acid can be converted back to glucose through gluconeogenesis, providing a reusable energy source.

During physical activity, especially intense exercise, lactic acid production increases significantly, leading to muscle soreness and fatigue if accumulated excessively. However, lactic acid is not merely a metabolic byproduct; it also regulates acid-base balance, acts in signal transduction, and serves as an energy source. Measuring lactic acid levels is crucial for evaluating athletic performance, recovery, and diagnosing metabolic disorders, cardiovascular diseases, and lactic acidosis.

Lactic acid is widely used in the food industry as an acidity regulator and preservative. In the cosmetics industry, it serves as a moisturizer and pH adjuster, and in pharmaceuticals, it is used to produce medications like calcium lactate and potassium lactate. Given its broad applications and significant roles, quantitative and qualitative analysis of lactic acid is essential in food safety, health monitoring, and scientific research.

      Sample Submission Requirements

      1. Sample Types

Biological Fluids: Serum, plasma, urine, bile, bile acids

Animal Tissues: Cells, liver, brain, and other animal tissues, as well as feces

      Other Samples: Plants, yeast, microorganisms

      2. Sample Volume

At least 200 μL of liquid sample or 200 mg of solid sample.

      3. Sample Transportation

For shipping, it is recommended to use an adequate amount of dry ice, considering that 3-4 kg of dry ice sublimates in one day. It is advisable to use larger blocks of dry ice as they sublimate more slowly. Ensure samples are sealed in a foam box and opt for the fastest possible shipping method to minimize sample degradation during transport.

      Applications

      • Assess the intake of lactic acid and its health impact.
      • Detect lactic acid content in foods to ensure safety and quality.
      • Investigate lactic acid's role in athletic performance, metabolic diseases, and other health conditions.
      • Study the applications and potential efficacy of lactic acid and its derivatives in drug development and treatment.
