    Lignans Analysis Service

Lignans are a class of naturally occurring compounds with broad biological activities. They can be found in over 60-70 plant families and have been extracted from various plant parts, such as roots, rhizomes, stems, bark, leaves, seeds, and fruits. Lignans share a common 2,3-dibenzylbutane skeleton, but exhibit a variety of structures. Lignans are used in different foods, including dairy products and baked goods. After ingestion, these lignan-containing foods are metabolized in the gut, leading to the production of numerous beneficial active metabolites. Mass spectrometry is a highly sensitive analytical technique that can detect, identify, and quantify various plant lignans and their metabolites, even at low abundances, by measuring their mass and characterizing their chemical structures. Mass spectrometers are often coupled with gas chromatography (GC) or liquid chromatography (LC) to efficiently separate organic molecules from complex samples. Comprehensive analysis of plant lignan content and its metabolites helps to elucidate the changes in lignan levels at different stages of plant development and the potential metabolic pathways of lignans.
