Lumichrome Analysis Service

Lumichrome, also known as 6,7-dimethyl-8-ribityllumazine, is a metabolic product of riboflavin (vitamin B2). Lumichrome has the chemical formula C₁₂H₁₀N₄O₂ and a molecular weight of 242.23 g/mol. It typically appears as a yellow crystalline solid with limited solubility in water and organic solvents. Its UV-visible absorption spectrum shows a strong absorption peak, usually in the range of approximately 350-370 nm, attributed to the conjugated system of its isoalloxazine ring. Due to its intrinsic fluorescent properties, lumichrome is frequently used as a fluorescent probe in research. Researchers are also exploring lumichrome's potential applications in the food industry, particularly in determining the riboflavin content in food and the formation of its degradation products. Analyzing the content of lumichrome and its metabolites in food and pharmaceuticals can ensure the safety of products containing lumichrome and elucidate its metabolic mechanisms.
