    Maslinic Acid Analysis Service

      Maslinic acid (MA) is a pentacyclic triterpenic acid widely found in various plants, especially in olives and hawthorn. It is noted for its numerous biological activities, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, antibacterial, and antiviral effects. In vitro studies indicate that MA inhibits serine proteases, which are essential for the spread of HIV within the body. It also shows antiproliferative effects on colon cancer cells and increases EAAT2 (GLT-1) glutamate reuptake, potentially reducing glutamatergic toxicity in rats.

       

      MA also demonstrates antioxidant capabilities against reactive oxygen and nitrogen species and suppresses proinflammatory cytokines like TNF-α and IL-6 in murine macrophages. These mechanisms may enhance protein synthesis, growth rates, and joint support. Research has shown that MA can improve muscle mass in the elderly when combined with resistance exercise. Therefore, accurate quantitative and qualitative analysis of MA is essential for research in plant science, food science, and drug development.
