Measurement of Optical Rotation in Antibody Drugs

Antibody drugs are a class of drugs that treat diseases through artificially synthesized antibodies. They achieve therapeutic purposes by binding specifically to target molecules. Common types of antibody drugs include monoclonal antibodies, synthetic antibody fragments, immunotoxins, and antibody-drug conjugates. Antibody drugs demonstrate significant therapeutic effects in treating various diseases, such as cancer, autoimmune diseases, inflammatory diseases, immune regulation, and ophthalmological diseases.

The measurement of protein optical rotation is a commonly used analytical method for studying the structure, stability, and interactions of proteins. Optical rotation refers to the degree to which light is rotated as it passes through a substance, and it is related to the substance's structure. As one of the important parameters for antibody drugs, optical rotation can differentiate between antibody drugs and assess the purity of the samples. Additionally, since optical rotation is related to protein concentration, it can also be used to determine the content of antibody drugs. This measurement plays a crucial role in detecting changes in the secondary structure of antibody drugs, the folding states of proteins, and interactions between proteins and other molecules, such as ligands or drugs. Typically, the optical rotation of antibody drugs is measured using a polarimeter, and the data obtained from the polarimeter is compared with reference data to gain insights into the optical properties of the sample.
