    N-Methyltryptamine Analysis Service

N-methyltryptamine (NMT) is a tryptamine compound formed by introducing a methyl group to the nitrogen atom of tryptophan or tryptamine through the action of N-methyltransferase. Its structure consists of an indole ring, an ethyl side chain, and a methylated amino group attached to the side chain. NMT acts as a bioactive molecule in the body and may play roles in various physiological processes, including neurotransmission and cardiovascular regulation.

As an endogenous compound, NMT is metabolized by multiple enzymes, primarily through the actions of monoamine oxidase (MAO) and methyltransferase (MT). Changes in the levels of NMT and its metabolites may be associated with various neurological and cardiovascular diseases, making it a potential biomarker for these conditions. For example, abnormal changes in NMT levels may reflect the severity of neurological disorders or the response to treatment. The signaling pathways involving NMT are also targets for many drugs, particularly in the treatment of psychiatric and neurological disorders. Drugs that regulate NMT levels or its receptor activity show potential therapeutic value. Analyzing the concentration changes of NMT and its metabolites in biological samples can be used for early diagnosis and monitoring of these diseases.
