    Oleamide Analysis Service

Oleamide is a fatty acid amide compound with a simple structure consisting of an oleic acid linked to an amine group. It is a naturally occurring lipid found in the cerebrospinal fluid and various tissues, particularly in the brain, where it is synthesized from oleic acid. Oleamide is known for its biological activity, particularly as a sleep-inducing molecule and as a modulator of multiple physiological processes. Its bioactivity allows it to interact with specific receptors, such as cannabinoid receptors (CB1 and CB2) and serotonin receptors (5-HT2A and 5-HT7), which makes it important for regulating sleep, mood, and pain perception.

Due to its significant effects on sleep regulation, oleamide may enhance sleep onset and duration, particularly during states of sleep deprivation or disturbance. Monitoring the levels of oleamide in the body may serve as a potential biomarker for sleep disorders, such as insomnia or sleep apnea. Measuring its concentration in biological fluids, such as cerebrospinal fluid or plasma, can assist in the early diagnosis and management of such conditions. Studying the metabolic pathways and regulatory mechanisms of oleamide can provide insights into the broader context of fatty acid amide metabolism and its role in neurological and physiological health, potentially offering new therapeutic approaches for treating sleep disorders and other neurophysiological conditions.
