Peanut Agglutinin (PNA) is a plant lectin protein derived from the peanut plant (Arachis hypogaea). PNA has a high affinity for a particular carbohydrate motif, Gal-β(1-3)-GalNAc, which can be found in a variety of glycoconjugates. Due to its specificity, PNA is widely used in biological research for studying cell surface carbohydrates, glycoconjugate distribution, and cell-cell interactions. It can also be used as a diagnostic tool for detecting abnormalities in glycosylation associated with diseases such as cancer.

In our PNA analysis service, we utilize advanced mass spectrometry-based techniques, including liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) and tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS), to effectively identify and quantify PNA. This involves the extraction of PNA from samples, enzymatic or chemical derivatization to improve detection, separation of PNA using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), and finally, mass spectrometric analysis for detailed characterization.
