Phytol is a diterpene alcohol that plays a crucial role in the synthesis of Vitamin E and Vitamin K1. It is a component of chlorophyll and is therefore present in all plants and contributes to their green color. In human and animal metabolism, phytol is converted into phytanic acid, a fatty acid that can have detrimental effects if accumulated at high levels. Therefore, monitoring the levels of phytol and its metabolites can provide important insights into several metabolic disorders.

At MtoZ Biolabs, we provide Phytol Analysis Service based on mass spectrometry (MS), a powerful analytical technique that measures the mass-to-charge ratio of ions to determine the elemental or isotopic signature of a sample. MS provides quantitative and qualitative analysis of complex mixtures and can detect even minor compounds in low abundance.
