    Sinapic Acid Analysis Service

Sinapic acid (4-hydroxy-3,5-dimethoxycinnamic acid) is a naturally occurring hydroxycinnamic acid phenolic compound widely found in various fruits, vegetables, grains, and spices, particularly abundant in the seeds of Brassicaceae plants, such as mustard and rapeseed. It belongs to the class of cinnamic acid compounds, with a molecular formula of C11H12O5. The structure of sinapic acid includes a cinnamic acid backbone, with two methoxy groups (-OCH₃) at the 3rd and 5th positions on the benzene ring and a hydroxyl group (-OH) at the 4th position, structurally related to other compounds such as ferulic acid, caffeic acid, and p-coumaric acid.

Sinapic acid exhibits various pharmacological activities, including: (1) Antioxidant Activity: Sinapic acid is a potent antioxidant that can scavenge free radicals and protect cells from oxidative stress, thereby preventing damage to lipids, proteins, and DNA. (2) Anti-inflammatory Effects: Research shows that this compound can inhibit the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, reducing inflammation in various models. (3) Neuroprotective Properties: Sinapic acid demonstrates neuroprotective effects by reducing oxidative stress and inflammation in the brain, potentially offering therapeutic benefits for neurodegenerative diseases. In addition, sinapic acid also possesses antimicrobial activity and anticancer potential.
