Taurodeoxycholic acid (TDCA) is a bile acid formed by the conjugation of deoxycholic acid (DCA) with taurine, making it an essential component of bile. As a secondary bile acid, TDCA is mainly produced by the conversion of primary bile acid deoxycholic acid by intestinal microorganisms. TDCA plays a crucial role in the emulsification and absorption of fats and is key in regulating cholesterol metabolism and maintaining liver health.
