    Tryptophan Analysis Service

Tryptophan (Trp) is a unique and essential amino acid containing an indole structure, primarily existing in the L-form in humans and animals. Since it cannot be synthesized by the body, it must be obtained exclusively through dietary intake. Tryptophan plays a crucial role in protein biosynthesis and serves as a precursor for several important bioactive compounds. The levels of tryptophan in the body depend on dietary intake and the activity of various metabolic pathways.

Tryptophan metabolism in humans is primarily governed by three key pathways: the kynurenine (Kyn) pathway, the 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) pathway (also known as the serotonin pathway), and the indole pathway. These pathways are intricately linked to various diseases and have significant implications for regulating multiple physiological functions, including inflammation, immune response, and neural activity. Understanding these pathways and their related metabolites is essential for research in fields such as neurobiology, immunology, and metabolic disorders.
