    Urocanic Acid Analysis Service

      Urocanic acid is a naturally occurring compound produced in the body through the deamination of histidine by histidase in the liver or skin. Its structure consists of an imidazole ring with a double bond, making it a significant natural moisturizing factor in the skin with the ability to absorb ultraviolet (UV) radiation. Due to this property, urocanic acid plays an important role in skin photoprotection and sun defense.

       

      In tumor cells, the metabolism of urocanic acid may undergo changes, and alterations in its levels and metabolic processes could be associated with the occurrence, development, and malignant transformation of cancer. In certain types of skin cancer, changes in the levels and metabolites of urocanic acid may serve as biomarkers for tumor activity and therapeutic efficacy. Therefore, measuring the levels of urocanic acid and its metabolites can be used to assess tumor activity and treatment effectiveness. Additionally, because urocanic acid may also be produced by the metabolism of skin microbiota, elevated levels may indicate local infection or inflammation. Monitoring its metabolites can help evaluate the severity of bacterial infection and the intensity of the inflammatory response.
