Protein Complex Identification Service
Mass spectrometry for identifying protein molecular weight requires minimal sample consumption and offers high sensitivity, resolution, and accuracy, facilitating the analysis of complex mixtures. MtoZ Biolabs offers MALDI-TOF-MS and ESI-MS mass spectrometry platforms for the molecular weight determination of various protein samples, catering to needs such as peptide fingerprinting and protein identification.
Two Primary Types of Mass Spectrometry
1. MALDI-TOF-MS
This technique directly measures molecular weight. The ions generated by the MALDI ion source predominantly carry a single charge, resulting in peaks in the mass spectrum that correspond directly to the mass of sample components. This allows for the straightforward calculation of molecular weights without additional deconvolution.
2. ESI-MS
This high-resolution mass spectrometry technique analyzes the multiply charged signals produced by ESI. The signals are then deconvoluted to obtain precise molecular weight values.
Both MALDI-TOF-MS and ESI-MS are effective for determining the molecular weights of protein complexes and protein-small molecule complexes.
Sample Submission Requirements
1. Sample Preparation
Samples should be dissolved in a volatile solvent with low salt and detergent content.
2. Sample Transportation
Lyophilized protein samples should be transported either frozen or at 4℃.
